The World Championships took place in Warszawa (Poland) and nine nations participated: Austria, Bulgaria, France, Germany FR., Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain and Sweden.It was decided that from 1983 onwards, the Lifesaving World Championships should be organised every four years.
