ILSE Board Meeting 2005

From 9-11 August, in conjunction with the European Championships, ILSE held its annual meeting in Travemünde, Germany. 16 of the 19 Board Members, the Commission Chairmen (except Sports Commission), the Medical Advisor, as well as observers from Germany, Romania and United Kingdom were present.


From 9-11 August, in conjunction with the European Championships, ILSE held its annual meeting in Travemünde, Germany. 16 of the 19 Board Members, the Commission Chairmen (except Sports Commission), the Medical Advisor, as well as observers from Germany, Romania and United Kingdom were present.

Main topics on the agenda were the decision about details of the project and contracts for the Risk Assessment for European Beaches, an ILSE Ice Rescue Programme, an ILSE Code of Practise for the safety on rivers, lakes and related inland waters, a Disaster Prevention Programme, the European Master Championships as well as the continuing of Development Aid Measures in Russia, Latvia, Ukraine and Romania.

Due to vacancies in the Commissions the following persons were appointed in additional:

ILSE Extraordinary General Assembly

In addition to the Board Meeting an Extraordinary General Assembly was organised for the by-election of Board Members. Representatives from Azerbaijan, Czech Republic, Denmark, Norway, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Spain and Turkey joint the Board Members, so that 25 member associations were present.

It was decided to have 23 members in the Board instead of 20. This was the chance of the by-election of the following representatives:

  • Petr Nelezin (Russia)
  • Jelena Pesic (Serbia and Montenegro)
  • Inkilap Obruk (Turkey)

Besides the meetings the Members had the chance to watch the beach competitions, which were just in front of the Hotel Maritime and the pool competitions in the St. Lorenz Swimming Pool in Lübeck. DLRG invited to a dinner on SSPASSAT, a 100 years old sailing ship, which is now a museum and a great attraction in Travemünde.

All the Board Members were invited to attend the awarding ceremony of the best lifesaver of the year with the “NIVEA DELPHIN Award in the Town Hall of the Hanseatic Town Lübeck. The closing dinner was arranged in the elegant restaurant on the top of the Hotel Maritime in the 35th floor with a magnificent view over the Baltic coastline and the surrounding of Lübeck and Travemünde.
