The World Conference on Drowning Prevention is one of the most important events on the calendar of the International Life Saving Federation. The World Conference on Drowning Prevention is a global conference offered by ILS.

The purpose is to bring together the world’s foremost experts, research, systems and information on drowning prevention, rescue, lifesaving and water safety for exchange, debate and further development that will lead to reduction of death and injury in all aquatic environments worldwide.

The ILS Americas Region and SOBRASA, the Brazilian Lifesaving Federation, are pleased to announce the production of a new drowning prevention video cartoon for kids.

WHO maintains Official Relations with ILS

The WHO Executive Board reviewed the report of collaboration with ILS at its 132nd session in January 2013. This report detailed achievements from the period 2010 – 2012.

These achievements included the promotion of the WHO/UNICEF Child Injury Report, the conduct of the World Conference on Drowning Prevention 2011 and other collaborations in drowning prevention interventions, research and workshops in WHO South East and Western Pacific Regions.
