Asociacion de Guardavidas de Panama

Carlos A. Paterson was in 1944 the first one to organise a formal group of lifesavers, integrated to the youth of the Panamanian Red Cross.

In March of 1997, five lifeguards trained by this institution, initiated the creation of an independent association.

Two years later, on 15 March 1999; they succeeded in establishing the Association. The Lifeguards Association of Panama aim at increasing the status and the image of lifeguards and reducing drowning accidents. The federation is also aiming at providing to lifeguards a permanent status as civil servants prepared to offer protection and security in the aquatic areas of the country.

Having undertaken since 1999 their formation and the election of the first Board of Directors, this professional organisation is set up as a non-discriminatory and non for profit association willing to perform their work to the best of their abilities.

The headquarters of the Association are located in the City of Panama.
