Maatschappij tot Redding van Drenkelingen

The Maatschappij was founded in 1767 to promote all forms of enterprise that might help to lower the incidence of drowning in the Netherlands. The Maatschappij implements this goal:

* By supplying information to the public on rescue and reanimation methods.
* By funding research into the prevention of drowning.
* By awarding medals to individuals for successful rescue attempts.

De Maatschappij tot Redding van Drenkelingen is Corresponding Member since 2001.

In 2004, the MRD organised the World Drowning Congress with a participation of over 2,000 people.
