Military Lifesaving World Championships 2007

Under the Patronage of the International Military Sports Council (CISM), the Canadian CISM Member will organise the 42nd Military Lifesaving World Championships in the prairie city of Winnipeg, Manitoba. This competition will have both pool and beach events that ILS is convinced that it will appeal to all military athletes and coaches.

The 17th Wing Winnipeg is the host. The pool events will take place in the city of Winnipeg and the beach events on the lakeside Town of Gimli.

    Pool and Stillwater Events

    200m Obstacle Swim, 50 m Manikin Carry, 100 m Rescue Medley, 100 m Manikin Carry
    100 m Manikin Tow with Fins, 200 m Super Lifesaver, 4x25m Manikin Relay, 4×50 m Obstacle Relay, 4×50 m Medley Relay.

    Beach and Surf Events

    Surf Race, Rescue Tube Rescue, Rescue Tube Race, Beach Flags, Beach Sprint, Beach Relay, Surf Ski Race, Board Race, Board Relay, Board Rescue, Run-Swim-Run, Taplin Relay.

    Participation

    Participation is only possible through the Military organisation of your country. They however should be member of CISM. To be eligible to compete, athletes must satisfy their country’s Life Saving Authority’s membership requirements. Competitors must have fulfilled that country and club membership requirements for at least 1 year immediately prior to the event.

    Regulations of the Championship

    • The championship will be conducted in accordance with ILS rules and regulations.
    • The format of the championship will be direct finals for both pool and beach events. Accuracy of entry times is extremely important.
    • All events will be separated in men and women heats. Medals will be awarded in each event for both genders.
    • Equipment will be supplied by the hosting nation. Nations that choose to bring their own beach equipment are encouraged to do so but will be scrutinised to ensure they meet ILS specifications before allowed for competition.

    Civilian Canadian National Lifesaving Championships

    This competition will be held in conjunction with the Canadian Civilian Lifesaving Championships. These Canadian civilian teams will not directly compete against CISM teams. Any participating civilian teams will be seeded in separate heats and will be ranked separately from CISM rankings.

    Anti-doping

    • Anti Doping tests will be organised in accordance with the CISM anti-doping regulations.
    • The tests will be performed according to the latest WADA Anti Doping Code and Procedures.

    ILS congratulates the Canadian Defence Forces for the organisation of the event.
