For the second time our Dutch Member Association, the KNBRD Reddingsbrigades Nederland organised the European Championships for Juniors in Eindhoven, the event took place from 4th to 6th September 2009. Teams from 14 ILSE Member Associations (Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland) participated in the competitions. Winner was the team from Italy (619), followed by the teams from Germany (612) on the second and the team from Spain (501) on the third place.

For the first time the competitions were organised according to the new concept with less participants and disciplines, on which the ILSE Board had decided at the last meeting in Cyprus in May 2009.

ILSE was represented by Senior Vice President Frank Nolan. The event was well accepted in the Netherlands and had a great support by sponsors, the Vice Mayor and Councillor for Sports, Ms. Mariët Mittendorf and Ms. Erica Terpstra, President of the NOC-NSF, who were present at the opening ceremony.

Frank Nolan thanked on behalf of ILSE the KNBRD President Paul de Winter and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Raymond van Mourik as well as Jolanda van Dalen, Bob Dekkers and Nico Launen for the excellent organisation and the great hospitality.

More details about the organisation and the results can be found on the website www.ejc2009.nl.
