  • 100 years Reddingsbrigade Netherlands

    On 16 September 1917, the Dutch Founding Meeting of the Dutch Federation for Rescue of Drowning Victims (Reddingsbrigade Netherlands) took place on the initiative of five rescue brigades from Den Bosch, Amsterdam, Breda, The Hague and Haarlem.

  • Lifesaving World Championships 2018 - Very successful Co-Ordination Committee meeting in Adelaide

    Members of the ILS Sport Commission and the ILS Event Director travelled to Adelaide for a very successful Co-ordination Committee (CoCom) meeting with the Lifesaving World Championships Adelaide 2018 Local Organising Committee (LOC)from 8th to 11th September 2017.

  • Nominations from Technical Officials for LWC Adelaide 2018 are now closed

    The online application process for Technical Officials to nominate to be considered for appointment at the Lifesaving World Championships Adelaide 2018 has now closed. There were 350 applications. Having checked and removed duplicates there are now 330 applications from 26 countries that will go forward to the appointment process. Member federations will soon be receiving lists of those who have applied from their federation to seek endorsement that their application is valid, they are in good standing, and that they are suitable for the positions for which they have applied.

  • 1st Lifesaving African Championships

    The International Lifesaving Federation Africa Region (ILS Africa) will host its First Edition of Lifesaving African Championships in October 27th to 30th in Agadir, Morocco.

    This Competition will be hosted by The Royal Federation of Diving and Underwater Activities of Morocco under the Distinguished Patronnage of HIS MAJESTY KING MOHAMED VI of the Kingdom of Morocco.

    Under the auspices of ILS and ILS Africa, and as scheduled before, the Royal Moroccan Federation got it's first Judges promotion.

  • Lifesaving events at the World Games are a big success

    The 10th Edition of the World Games is being held in Wroclaw, Poland from 20th to 30th August 2017. Lifesaving was one of the first of the 31 sports to successfully complete its programme over the first two days of competition on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd July. The 100 competitors from the the 10 invited nations all competed strongly in the 8 disciplines contested, with Italy emerging as the top ranked nation.

  • The World Games 2017

    The World Games 2017 is around the corner! The 10th edition of the Games will be held in Wroclaw, Poland, 20–30 July 2017. More than 3,000 athletes from 31 sports and 111 countries will take part in the biggest sport event ever staged in Poland, under the patronage of the IOC. From Life Saving, 100 athletes will be present.

  • Equivalency Table Finland Updated

    The Finnish Swimming Teaching and Lifesaving Federation added the Equivalency to ILS Instructor Pool Lifeguard for their National Certificate "Kansainvälinen Hengenpelastus Kouluttaja".

  • The Sanyobussan International Lifesaving Cup 2017

    The Sanyobussan International Lifesaving Cup 2017, now internationally known as Sanyo Cup was held at Momochi Beach, in Seaside Momochi Beach Park, Fukuoka, 24-25 th June. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary, 8 teams from 7 countries/regions, Australia, Hong Kong, Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, USA, and Japan(Japan-A/Japan-B), have shown exciting and spectacular races for two days.
