‘Our Lady On The Sea’ is a 36 tonne vessel owned and operated by Australian Wedding Blessing and Photographic Company from Queensland. The use of this vessel has been given to the Southport Churches of Christ every Sunday morning and they in turn allow the Southport Surf Life Saving Club to hold the club ‘Dedication and Blessing’ on board one Sunday prior to the commencement of the season.

This year they had 80 lifesavers on board with another 40 on skis, boards, IRBs and a Surf Boat. The trip takes about 2 hours with 30 minutes for a service the rest of the time spent having refreshments (tea, coffee, sweet cakes etc) and enjoying each others company.

The culmination is the dedication of the craft and gear for the purposes of Life Saving and asking Gods blessing on the club members and all Life Savers. The clubs senior Life Saver on board says this prayer of dedication.

Last year the Pastor spoke on the parable of the Good Samaritan and pointed out that Life Savers are similar in fact right down to the point where they put their hands into their own pockets in caring for others.
