Surf boats in France

The third French Cup Surf Boats took place in Henday in France on 27 and 28 September 2003. After the success of the French cup in 2002, a lot of foreing teams came to France, such as Australia (Kurrawa), England (Porthtowan and Perranporth), Portugal and, of course, several French teams. One team had even two rowing Olympic champions.

Thanks to the French organisation lead by Philippe Doïmo this event attracts more and more known Surfboat champions. The interest in these surf boat competitions is growing in Europe, mostly in France and Great Britain.

During the French cup 13 French teams were present (4 women’s and 9 men’s). We can expect to see them at Rescue 2004 in Italy.

For the 2004 French Tour there will be three rounds with the final in Lacaneau in the South-West of France on 25 and 26 September. Participating in this event can be combined with a trip to Mascaret, for surfing the famous Mascaret waves and some very good wine tasting in the the city of Vayres. The Australian Surf Boat rowers will certainly be present trying to catch the mascaret waves.
