With the aim to improve and develop lifesaving activities in the Baltic Area a Conference was organised in Nida/Lithuania from 23 to 25 April 2004.

The preparation and organisation was in the hand of the President of the Lithuanian Member Federation, Mr. Arunas Burksas. Beside five other delegates from Lithuania, the Presidents from Latvia, Dr. Imants Ostrovskis and from Poland, Mr. Jerzy Telak as well as Director Benno Lutz from Estonia participated and were accompanied by their experts.

A representative from the company Beiersdorf/NIVEA ” Baltic Branch was present. The company promised a support of water safety activities in the Baltic area. The meeting started with a reception and a press conference, where also the mayor of Nida was present. The main subjects were an introduction in the activities of ILS-Europe, reports from the delegates about their national situation and a possible cooperation in this areas of rescue service, lifesaving education and lifesaving sport.

Besides the programme the delegates visited the beach of Nida and the rescue- and safety facilities.
