Life Saving World Tour

In January 2005 a 27 years old Finnish Lifeguard, Niilo Ryti, sets off to his quest to explore the world of lifesaving.

The “Life Saving World Tour is a concept designed to raise the international understanding between Lifeguards around the world, to raise the public awareness on the demanding work of Lifeguards through means of broad media production, and simply to educate the participant for higher standards in
doing his work.

The “Life Saving World Tour is a concept designed to raise the international understanding between Lifeguards around the world, to raise the public awareness on the demanding work of Lifeguards through means of broad media production, and simply to educate the participant for higher standards in
doing his work.

The tour consists of 12 countries and even more courses in open water and surf environment around the world. The tour map follows an upright ILS standard pattern. There are also few special courses on a local level to contribute to the skills of the participant.

The Life Saving World Tour 2005 is also meant as a means of interactive and collective knowledge-sharing through workshops and other technique exchange events in the locations.

There will be on-line website automatically updated twice a month with photographs, videoclips and descriptions from the locations. Site is to be launched at the day of departure.

Niilo Ryti is an instructor of the Finnish Federation for Swimming Instructing and Life Saving, and the designer of the Life Saving World Tour-concept. The tour is funded by commercial sponsors.
