Aussies and South Africans tie

Following days of intense competition, South Africa and Australia have emerged as joint victors with a tied point score of 738 at the 2005 South African Stillwater Championships held from February 23-26 2005 at Delville Swimming Pool and Victoria Lake in Germinston, South Africa.

Australiaâ„¢s Royal Life Saving team, the “Aussie Barraâ„¢s was the only international team invited to compete in the South African 2005 Stillwater Lifesaving Championships.


Following days of intense competition, South Africa and Australia have emerged as joint victors with a tied point score of 738 at the 2005 South African Stillwater Championships held from February 23-26 2005 at Delville Swimming Pool and Victoria Lake in Germinston, South Africa.

Australia’s Royal Life Saving team, the “Aussie Barra’s was the only international team invited to compete in the South African 2005 Stillwater Lifesaving Championships.

In the spirit of international cooperation and friendship, Lifesaving South Africa extended the invitation to The Royal Life Saving Society Australia’s lifesaving team.

In addition to the action in the water, there was also the 2005 Miss Stillwater Lifesaver Competition.

Australia’s “Aussie Barra’s lifesaving team and the South Africans had their team scores tallied, but also had an individual point score competition.

Highlights over the three days of competition included:

  • Rebecca Crack`s line throw event – an unofficial world record time of 11.50
  • Felysia Komakoff selected as the only Australian finalist and winning Miss Personality in the Miss Stillwater competition.
  • SERC Team gold medal and great performance!
  • A number of personal best times from the team whilst swimming at altitude!
