The ILS President expressed his appreciation to the National Association of Professional Divers and Lifeguards from Romania (ANSPS) for their excellent arrangements during his visit to Romania.

ANSPS is a non-profit organisation that was founded in 1999. The main activities are water rescue, lifesaving and SCUBA diving. The lifeguards activities are mainly on the Black Sea, the lakes Danubin as well as the Danubin delta. The ANSPS has services of over 100 pools on the Romanian Black Sea Coast.

The founding members of ANSPS are instructors, SCUBA professional divers, physicians and engineers in marine technology. They founded this non-profit association to work efficiently and to allow the organisation to become member of ILS. The ANSPS has started its lifeguard services in 2001 and became full member of ILS in May 2003.

The ILS President visited the ANSPS after attending the ILS Board Meetings in the ILS Headquarters in Leuven. After his arrival in Bucharest where he met with the Romanian delegates, the ILS President was taken on the helicopter ride of a lifetime to see Dracula’s castle and the mountains of Romania as well as on a flight across the country to the Delta Wilderness Resort, following the Black Sea coastline and observing the members lifeguard training at Mamaia Beach.

The ILS President had the opportunity to meet with the members of ANSPS and the DLRG instructors, and finally attended the press conference with both TV, radio and press in attendance.

ANSPS were the perfect hosts and the ILS President personally feels that Romania will be a very strong member of ILS. He was very impressed with the DLRG course and even more so with the caliber of their young people.
