Rescue and Education Activities
- Website update ” contents of 500megabytes with lifesaving information ” 36.500 visits
- SOBRASA has conducted 132 lectures, courses, presentation and conferences about drowning and prevention in last year 2006.
- Four new regional branches (State Fire Department) have been added to SOBRASA.
- SOBRASA has updated the Lifesaving Museum on the Internet covering 1917 to 1970, with more than 1900 photos, videos, newspaper articles and many more media.
- SOBRASA has given 4 Jet Ski lifesaving courses.
- SOBRASA has given 2 river rescue courses.
- The Fourth Trauma Course was conducted.
- SOBRASA has given 5 IRB rescue courses.
- A broader and more diverse National Drowning Report was created to increase prevention campaigns.
- A new video on prevention to children at school was created and is available on the internet.
- The Dolphin Project: Since 1963, the largest drowning prevention Program in Brazil ” 150,000 children trained. January 2007 ” 18.000 children in Lifesaving Service in Rio de Janeiro (GMAR) ” Fire Department (CBMERJ)
- SOBRASA has arranged to make 22 presentations and posters and World Water Safety 2007.
Lifesaving Sport Activities
- VI National Lifesaving Championship and V Symposium were conducted in Sao Paulo from 23 to 26 November 2006. This was the first event to include pool events in national competition.
- The next VII National Lifesaving Championship and VI Symposium and IV South-American will take place in Paraná, Guaratuba – 29, 30/11 and 1/12/2007 ” 2007
- Five state lifesaving championships were conducted including more than 1400 lifeguards.
- The First Regional Fresh Water (river) Lifesaving Championships were conducted in Bebedouro, Sao Paulo ” April 2007 ” Fire Department Sao Paulo
