Mauritius on the move

Surf Life Saving Association of Mauritius (SLSAM) has been set up in 2007. From 2007 to 2009 there were volunteer beach patrol and in 2009 professional lifesaving training was given to Mauritius from Australia and in 2011 we had the Surf Life Saving Association approved by the Government of Mauritius. On weekends we are volunteering on public beaches. In 2012, the organisation has been asked to march (Surf Life Saving march) for the National Day. This was the first time in the Mauritian History that a lifesaving organisation did introduce itself at National Level.

Viraj Ramharai is the Founder President of the Surf Life Saving Association. The Association became Full Member of ILS on 7 September 2012.

At its last General Assembly, the President proposed the introduction of the NLSC (National Life Saving Certificate). This will be formed by a special committee with trainers and examiners from SLSAM together with trainers and examiners of RLSS to join hands in preparing a standard / quality assurance that all overseas qualifications in lifesaving should be assessed by the NLSC committee Chaired by RLSS President and SLSA President.

Sports: Bernard Lee Kwong Ken (former president of Cycling Federation)
Project Coordinator: Vishnou Ariane (65years who volunteers at SLSA)

They are all volunteer positions.
