Medal of Rescue Awarded

At the occasion of the ILS meetings in Eindhoven, the following Medals of Rescue were awarded:

ILS Rescue Medal of Valour

Luke McCracken (South Africa) has been awarded the ILS Rescue Medal of Valour for his heroic endeavors and bravery. He rescued a teenager who was swept out to sea near Zinkwazi on the North Coast in the early hours 31st December 2015. Off-duty and all by himself, he swam out in the dark with a Malibu and managed to get the 18-year old boy back into shore.

ILS Rescue Medal

Alexander Swanepoel has been awarded the ILS Rescue Medal for his bravery in risking his life to save his brother who was being attacked by a shark at Buffalo Bay, on 29th August 2015. Alexander’s heroic act in fending off the shark and getting his severely wounded brother to shore is bravery of the highest order.
