The ILS is pleased to announce that Dave Thompson has been awarded the title of Member (AM) in the General Division of the Order of Australia for his significant service to surf life saving at the local, national and international level.

As ILS members will know, aside from his extensive work within Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA), Dave has been the Chair of the ILS Sport Commission since 2008, and a member of the Commission since 2004. He is also a Knight in the Order of Lifesaving and a Life Member of SLSA. The ILS wishes to congratulate Dave on this significant honour.

Also honoured were Alan Inwood (AM) a Chief Referee at previous ILS Lifesaving World Championships, and Steve Strange (OAM), a key Results Official at the last Lifesaving World Championships.
