Appointments made to the ILS Athletes Commission

Following the recent Call for Nominations for positions in the ILS Athletes Commission that was sent to the ILS Membership on 5th May, the Chair of the ILS Athletes Commission and ILS Board Member, Steven Kent, has made the following selection from the nominations that were received:

As Secretary of the Athletes Commission:

  • Robert Hendriks (the Netherlands) – Man – ILS Europe Region

As Members of the Athletes Commission:

  • Yosra Dwidar (Egypt) – Woman – ILS Africa Region
  • Brian Murphy (USA) – Man – ILS Americas Region
  • Jake Smith (Australia) – Man – ILS Asia Pacific Region
  • Keita Dekiya (Japan) – Man – ILS Asia Pacific Region
  • Taylor Shrimpton (New Zealand) – Woman – ILS Asia Pacific Region
  • Anita Siller (Austria) – Woman – ILS Europe Region
  • Zara Williams (Great Britain) – Women ILS Europe Region

These athletes will join Haylie Burton (Canada) – Woman ILS Americas Region – who was already appointed on 27 March 2021.  The ILS Board of Directors will be asked to ratify these appointments at its next meeting.

The ILS congratulates all of these athletes on their appointment to the Athletes Commission.  It is good to note that there is gender equity in the appointments and all regions of the ILS are represented.

From the other nominations received, the following athletes have been asked to be Member of a number of Athletes Advisory Groups that will be established to support the work of the Commission:

The ILS also wishes to thank this group for their support and commitment to the cause of athletes in lifesaving sport and looks forward to their participation in the Advisory Groups that are established.
