Lifesaving to be an exhibition sport at the World Maccabiah Games

The ILS is pleased to announce that Lifesaving will be a demonstration sport at the 21st World Maccabiah Games to take place in Israel in July 2022.

The Maccabiah Games, also known as the Jewish Games, will feature over 10,000 athletes in more than 40 different sports. Our colleagues in the Israel Life Saving Federation will be the host organisation on Wednesday 21st July to Thursday 22nd July 2022 at Poleg Beach, Netanya,

Their President, Paul Hakim, confirmed that the Maccabi World Union are pleased to accept lifesaving sport as an exhibition event, which means that participants do not have to be of Jewish descent to take part.

He added, “there will be ocean and beach events for Open, Masters and Juniors, Under 17 and Under 19, in single, double, teams and mixed team categories in a wide range of disciplines.  We look forward to welcoming as many Life Savers from across the world to join us at this exciting event.  We also want to put out a call to any international Technical Official who wishes to help us manage the event.  You will be most welcome.”
