LWC 2022 – August 2022 Update on Covid-19 restrictions

The ILS Event Management Committee (EMC) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of LWC 2022 is pleased to provide a significant update on the Covid-19 restrictions for the events in Riccione next month. This was finally negotiated by FIN on Friday 19th August.

For some time it has not been necessary to provide a test or any proof of vaccine status when entering Italy. However, for LWC 2022 it had been necessary for all participants to provide negative PCR tests taken in the home country within 48/72 hours of arrival at the Accreditation Centre.

This requirement will no longer apply to all participants in the Masters World Championships and FIN Rescue World Cup events, or to ILS Meeting Delegates and spectators.

While there is still a requirement for all participants in the National Teams Open and Youth events (including all athletes, team officials and appointed Technical Officials), the type of test required has been downgraded to an Anti-Gen/Lateral Flow/RAT test rather than the more costly PCR test, provided the participant has been fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine.

If the participant is not fully vaccinated with an approved vaccine, then a negative PCR test must still be provided. Full details can be found here:

As a result of this announcement and to enable any participant who had decided not to attend because of the previous regulation, at the LOC request, the ILS EMC has now agreed to extend the deadline for final closure of entries to 31 August 2022.
