The International Life Saving Federation (ILS) Public Rescue Equipment Guidelines Working Group is developing internationally applicable, evidence-informed guidance on public rescue equipment (PRE). The work is intended to help organisations decide whether PRE should be provided, where it should be located, what form may be appropriate, and how it should be signed, maintained and governed.
We are now inviting organisational responses to an international survey covering current PRE practice, existing guidance and decision tools, examples and evidence, legal and governance issues, and views on possible future international standardisation.
Ideally, each organisation should submit one coordinated response from someone familiar with its operational, policy, research, risk-management or governance work.
Commercial manufacturers and suppliers should not complete this survey; a separate industry consultation is being prepared.
Responses will be analysed to identify common needs, existing practice, evidence gaps, case studies and areas of agreement or concern. The findings will inform the structure and content of the draft ILS PRE guidance.
