Lifesaving World Championships 2024

The Lifesaving World Championships 2024 (LWC 2024) will take place from 23 August to 9 September 2024 on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Our host will be Surf Life Saving Queensland with the pool events taking place at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre, Southport, and the ocean/beach events taking place at Kurrawa Beach.

The LWC 2024 Local Organising Committee is very well advanced in its planning for the delivery of the first full LWC since the start of the Covid Pandemic in 2020. At least 6,000 competitors are expected to participate throughout the full range of World Championships, for Masters, National Teams, Interclub Teams, Surfboats and IRBs.

All the necessary information can be found on the LWC 2024 Website: https://www.lwc2024.com/

Appointment of Chief Referees, Deputy Chief Referees and all Technical Officials for LWC 2024

The ILS Sport Commission is pleased to be able to announce today, 6 September all of the Technical Officials who have been appointed to officiate at each of the World Championships at LWC 2024.

With 450 applicants some challenging decisions had to be made in conjunction with the Chief Referees to appoint the teams who will conduct the Championships. The ILS Sport Commission wishes to congratulate all those listed on their appointments which, through the hard work in particular of Mr Jelle Meintsma, the ILS Sport Commission Secretary, can be published just less than 1 year out from the start of LWC 2024.
