Professional Team for Aquatic Rescues
The EPSA was created in February, 1996 with the aim of organising different sport and training events specially targeted to Argentinean Lifeguards.
Currently, EPSA is the sole organisation throughout Argentina which attempts to improve lifesaving techniques and training.
In a short term, EPSA, by means of all of the sport competitions organised, has achieved to attract the attention of more than 3.000 lifeguards in the country who nowadays are part of the organisation as active members.
EPSA organised events such as: two International Open Water Safety Congresses where outstanding lecturers from the United States, Australia, Brazil and Uruguay attended, a series of Open Water Race in Baradero, a three-stage Open Water Race in San Pedro, an Ironman for Lifeguards in Pinamar resort.
The foreseen EPSA’s projects are as follows:
- The implementation of a mass campaign to inform tourists in the summer resorts about the diverse ways to prevent aquatic hazards.
- The implementation of an unified statistical database among all water safety institutions in Argentina.
- The creation of a Junior Lifeguard Department at a national level.
- The implementation of Cardio-Pulmonary-Resuscitation and basic rescue technique courses targeted to High School students which will take place in swimming pools.
It is EPSA’s goal to learn and acquire knowledge from more developed countries in lifesaving.
Another EPSA primary goal is to be acknowledged as an association by the National Sport Secretariat so as to obtain financial support to be able to participate in different sport events throughout the world.
