Water Rescue Service - Czech Red Cross
The Water Rescue Service was set up in 1968 as a special unit of the Czechoslovak red cross.
Dr. Jeronym REPA can be considered as a founder of the WRS.
The goal of the organisation was and still is to enlarge the preventive activities near most of the swimming pools and the water areas.
Beside this activity, which is the main mission of the Water Rescue Service, the organisation is also involved in the promotion of its own training centre and in the organisation of sports activities near still and turbulent waters.
The organisation is also responsible for the safety of e.g. water events, long distance swimming, etc…
The WRC-CRC became member of FIS in 1989.
