6th Nivea Cup in Germany

From 14 until 17 July the German Life Saving Federation (DLRG) organised the International Nivea Cup in Warnemünde. Six national teams and 42 German teams participated in this high-level competition. With the World Games coming up some of the top-competitors did not participate this year. However, the competition was fierce. The athletes were confronted with very diverging weather conditions. On Friday it was a very warm and sunny day, until suddenly in the afternoon a thunder storm drove the athletes out of the water. On Saturday is was much colder and very windy.

In the National Teams competition the team from Germany took the first place with Denmark and Switzerland in second and third place.

The individual general ranking was won by Karin Camenzind from Switzerland (68 points) followed by Camilla Brolin from Denmark (65 points) and Andrea Halle from Germany (64 points). The male general ranking was ruled by Germany. Bengt Behrens took the gold with 71 points. Second and third were Christian Ritter (70 points and Sascha Mengel (69 points).
