On 7 and 8 July 30 trainees attended the course conducted by Miss Anni Gardiner from RLSSA. Miss Gardiner is an experienced National and International Pool Life Saving Official and is currently the Deputy SERC coordinator and technical official for Rescue 2006.

The course consisted of theoretical training in officiating of all ILS speed events. There was also a practical session for the trainees in watching members of the Singapore Lifesaving Team, who also enjoyed a brief coaching clinic. Particular attention was given to the recent changes to the ILS event rules.

All 30 trainees were successful in gaining their Level One RLSSA Pool Life Saving Official certification in speed events.
