World Drowning Prevention Day 2022 is an important occasion when we not only celebrate the work that our member federations are doing to prevent drowning around the world, but also remember those who lost their lives through drowning in the last year.

The ILS President, Mr Graham Ford AM, particularly wants to recognise the work of the millions of lifesavers around the world who risk their lives to save others from drowning. Without their selfless interventions, many hundreds of thousands of people might also fall victim to drowning and the global burden would be so much greater.

We will never forget the commitment of all the lifesavers in our 170 national federations who are the people at the front line in this fight to reduce the global burden of drowning. The President has this message for you…
