Last week the 22nd annual National Park Service All-Women Lifeguard Tournament was organised in Sandy Hook, New Jersey.

The annual All-Women Lifeguard Tournament is an innovative National Park Service workforce-diversity initiative that falls under the Federal Equal Opportunity Recruitment Programme.

The purpose of this meet is to showcase the high level of physical fitness and skill women bring to surf-lifeguarding, so as to prompt others to consider this non-traditional line of work for women. These women truly provide models for other women to see themselves in the proverbial “picture.”
