History made in Lifesaving in Israel

History was made in Israel today, 20th May 2022, when Jewish and Muslim lifesavers from Israel and Morocco trained together in preparation for the Maccabiah Games.

This historical event serves to confirm that in the ILS , we all have one mission of saving lives without any distinction between religion, ethnicity or race. It is an excellent example of collaboration in sport and humanitarian actions.

The President of Israel Life Saving Federation, Mr. Paul Hakim, confirmed that the Maccabi World Union has accepted lifesaving sport as an exhibition event, which means that participants do not have to be of Jewish descent to take part. “This will be a once in a lifetime experience for lifesavers to participate in the first ever life saving competition to be held in Netenyah in July.

Maccabiah will see also for the first time training for Israel and Palestinian lifesavers at the same time by ILS instructors and competitors from other ILS members will participate in the sport events. Congratulations to the Israel lifesaving federation for their organisation of Lifesaving in the Maccabiah Games.
