Italy’s Francesco Ippolito and Lucrezia Fabretti delivered gold in the men’s and women’s 200 m Super Lifesaver respectively, showcasing flawless technique under pressure. In the Rescue Medley, history was made as Poland’s Kacper Majchrzak and Germany’s Nina Holt each set new world records, lifting the crowd to its feet.

Germany’s Nina Holt also capped her record-breaking campaign by being named Athlete of the Day at the World Games. Already a seven-time world champion, Holt also has five gold medals from The World Games Birmingham 2022.

“I like the sport of lifesaving a lot. It’s not as big as swimming. In lifesaving you basically know everyone. Even if you compete against each other, it’s like a friendship,” Holt said.

Germany’s women closed out their meet with victory in the 4×50 m Pool Life Saver Relay, with Italy finishing in second place and Australia battled to a well-earned bronze. France’s Tom Durager stormed to gold in the 100 m Manikin Carry with Fins, and Italy dominated the 200 m Super Lifesaver, with Francesco Ippolito and Fabio Pezzotti securing gold and silver.

The Chengdu Games reinforced lifesaving’s standing as one of sport’s most physically demanding and socially valuable disciplines, a unique blend of elite athleticism and vital rescue skills, showcased at the very highest level.
